Pastor, Dr. Becky S. Henry
Board Member
Pastor, Dr. Becky S. Henry was born to the union of Mr. Leland D. Shedden and Mary K. Epley Shedden. She was raised in northern Pennsylvania, USA along with her two sisters. As a youth she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Towanda, PA. She has been married once and is the mother of three children.
After serving as a wife to a Naval Officer for over 30 years, she settled in Maryland and worked as the Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Director of Johns Hopkins Cancer Information Service. While working at Biospherics in Beltsville, MD she was credited with instituting, developing, and managing the Eldercare Locator Program which provides referral assistance to all Senior Services in the United States. She has also been a member of Boy Scouts of America for over 27 years and holds the highest award for service for the Baltimore Area Council.
In 2006 she began looking for a new church to attend in the local area. She was introduced to West Hyattsville Baptist Church; soon became a member and was baptized there. At the same time she was affiliated with Seed Faith International Ministries, Inc. (SFIM) and in 2007 and became their Treasurer and International Director of Missions. She received her calling to become a Pastor and was ordained in 2009 by SFIM. Following this, she also became an Associate Pastor at The Little White Chapel By the Wayside (LWC), a Pentecostal Church. In February 2011, at the age of 57, she received her Doctorate Degree in Ministry. She currently serves as Pastor, Teacher, and International Director of Missions at SFIM and Associate Pastor at LWC. She has developed a deep love for Liberia and the Liberian people, and was blessed to visit there in 2012. The local people have lovingly nicknamed her Marpue. She has witnessed firsthand the great need of medical services. Being handicapped herself, she experienced the lack of handicap support for those whose lives were torn in pieces by the war. She often quotes, “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Luke 10:2 NIV. She works tirelessly to do whatever she can to help those in need around the world; especially West Africa.
Dr. Henry also holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems and currently works as a TA Logistics/Data Coordinator at DB Consulting Group, Inc. in Silver Spring, MD. In September of 2013, she became an official Board Member of DGHCS.
